Day 2 | Jack's Branch TN to Belmont, MS. 76 miles

What a day.  We got started a little late, because we stayed in Nashville last night, and we needed to drop the dog off at "vacation village".  Unfortunately the kennel doesn't open until 7:30, so we were there on the door steps waiting for them to open and then drove a little over an hour to get back to Jack's Branch, which is where I stopped yesterday.  I was on the road, riding around 9:00 this morning.

It was a cool morning around 70 to start, and a nice 3-4 mile climb right out of the gate.  A good way to get the blood flowing.  There was not a lot to see today.  Below is my friend, the turtle, I helped him across the road, although I think he said to me, "WTF?"  I think he was trying to say that he wanted to go to the other side, not the side I moved him to.  Oh well, at least you are alive, and not road kill!  I also saw a BIG snake, and decided not to stop for that Kodak moment.

One of the best sights of the day was the Tennessee River.  It is very wide, and beautiful.

We stopped for lunch at a rest stop along the river and had a great lunch, and then continued on.
I rode a total of 76 miles today and was in 3 states, Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi.

Because of the late start today, I was riding in the heat of the day, and it was hot, especially around 1:00. Here is a picture of me resting at the last rest stop, about mile 61.  Just wanted to cool down for a few minutes and my wife thought it was funny.

And then when I got up, she thought it was even funnier.  I think you know where I was, just moments before??
